Long ago, the population of earth was entirely wiped out by something I can’t get into because it’s a spoiler for the first part of the trilogy

This was due to a little something called the oculus - an extremely powerful orb of energy hidden away on earth.

Nobody has known of the oculus, you see, as life had to start all over again.

Earth was not pure in its atmosphere, leading to what would be a usual process of evolution into “humans” becoming an evolution into a much further advanced species.

These are the people which our story revolves around.

Very quickly, much faster than humans, these people’s advanced into space. They developed ways to inhabit all planets of the solar system through the course of time and an almost complete process of speciation (they aren’t a seperate species, just different evolved to each habitat, hence why they can still reproduce).

A major adaptation was their ability to retain pure oxygen levels in their systems for extensive periods of time. All they required was a monthly or three monthly oxygen recharge (I can’t think of a better word rn). This led to the oxygen trade, in which oxygen farms on the biggest planets became the suppliers for the whole solar system. It was the oxygen farms that caused these four big planets, known as the gas giants, to become the four most powerful nations. However, there had been no corruption and all the planets lived in harmony.

Now, these four planets. Who were they? What exactly is the divide between them and the other four?

The four most powerful nations and largest in population were Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Jupiter and Saturn being gas giants and Uranus and Neptune being ice giants.

The other four smaller planets were a bit less developed and relied on these bigger planets.

One day something bad happened

Unbeknownst to literally anyone else, including Earth’s own population, the higher authorities of Earth had found something. An extremely powerful and dense ball of energy.

They had found the oculus.

Now earth people are cowards and try not to associate themselves with anything larger than themselves or too risky.

But one earthling was set on controlling the entire solar system. Why? Because, throughout this period of peace, every single planet had been extracting and exiling some of their people who didn’t fit their standards. It was a cruel and disgusting way to maintain their populations the way they wanted them to be. A way to conform to their special stereotypes they loved so dearly. These exiled people went to Pluto and were plotting their revenge.

This earthling knew that with the oculus, she and Pluto could overthrow the solar system.

This is where the ethics of the solar system get complicated. Every time a child is born, they are born with silver blood. They do not know good nor evil. They are neutral.

At six years old, they undergo a blood ceremony where the new colour of their blood is revealed. If their blood is red, they are an inherently good person. They are allowed to work in the military and rise in ranks of the planet.

If their blood remains silver, they’re fine to stay. They’re simply considered a slight risk. They can work as medics however, as they must treat everyone equally.

But what if their blood, at six years of age, is black?

The child is immediately sent to six years of rehabilitation. They must perform good deeds and work hard, as for the next six years before they turn 12, they have the ability to change the colour of their blood.

By 12, if their blood is still black, they are exiled. They will eventually make their way to dear old Pluto.

Pluto is not a nice place.

Harlow’s blood is black. She was sent to a rehabilitation camp. So how the hell is she within the top authorities of Earth?

She killed someone with red blood and manipulated her second ceremony!!!!

ANYWAYS, Harlow wants to use the oculus as a weapon. The rest of the authorities are like lmao no?!??!

So they banish her. But before she goes she sets her weapon off for only a split second.

This is enough to send a ripple of energy and power throughout the ENTIRE solar system.

This is not good. This sort of thing brought the extinction of everything on earth before. The four major powers, the leaders of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune get together for an urgent meeting.
They need to find out where it came from.

The four powers are convinced it had to be one of them. They’re the only ones powerful enough to construct anything that could send a

ripple that energetic, that dangerous.

Everyone is playing the blame game.

Uranus and Neptune side with each other, while Jupiter and Saturn take each other’s backs.

No one is backing down. The thought of it coming from somewhere else entirely is gone. They are furious and this argument has become personal. Confusion has brought the worst out of them.

Obviously, the four smaller nations need to choose a side. It’s far too risky to remain on your own when you’re so weak and small.

Mercury and Venus side with the gas giants.

Mars immediately sides with the ice giants, thinking this war has lost its entire first purpose anyway and the ripple could not have come from the furthest points of the solar system.

Earth follows Mars. They are close allies and trust Mars to bring them to the winning side, as the authorities are terrified. They’re guilty. They need to remain hidden and they can NOT be on the opposing side of the solar system’s most intelligent scientists.

This is war.
